Amsterdam-based, born in Italy. What decided you to move?
I was born and raised in Italy, where I started my design career. Later in my 20s I moved to London, then to Amsterdam. I was drawn to the city for its unique culture, stunning natural beauty, and progressive attitude. I was fascinated by Amsterdam's ever-changing nature, and how it continues to reinvent itself and embrace the modern world while staying true to its heritage and values. This was the deciding factor in my choice to make the move and call Amsterdam my home. As I continue to live in this beautiful city, I am constantly reminded of why I chose to move here, and I am grateful to be able to experience all that this inspiring city has to offer.
How did your passion for designing started? Can you tell a bit about your background and the link with nature?
My passion for design began when I was a child. Creativity runs in my family. I was given my first computer at the age of six, so I always enjoyed playing with digital art. Additionally, my father runs a beauty salon, and he would often bring home the most beautiful products to show us their packaging, which is when my passion for packaging design was first sparked.
As a teenager, I started to teach myself graphic design, reading tutorials, practicing, and creating graphics for friends and family's businesses. After a few years of freelancing in my spare time, I decided to make this my full-time career. I began by working in the music industry and designing for record labels and clubs/festivals. I then experimented with print and worked closely with print manufacturers. After that, I moved to London and worked for a digital agency, creating graphics for high-end clients in the city, focusing on branding and digital design. This inspired me to create my own studio, so I could connect with the brands I wanted, in the way I wanted.
Your creativity is above and beyond. Where is your creativity coming from?
I'm deeply inspired by Nature. My love for the environment has motivated me to focus on bringing sustainability to the design field. I believe that, as a designer, I can make a significant impact through my design choices, from the brands I work with to the paper used for their packaging.
My aesthetic is inspired by my priorities, namely the beauty of nature and using design to make an impact. With designs grounded in nature, my work is a true representation of the importance of our environment and how impactful things can be when they’re aligned with the planet.
You own and run an award-winning boutique design studio which only works with brands that impact the world. Can you tell us more?
It’s the everyday actions that have the most impact on our lives. From what we look at, to the things that surround us and, even more importantly, what we leave behind on this earth. The choices we make leave a mark. I believe we should make those choices beautiful and sustainable, and I inspire brands to do the same in the best way I know how — through elegant design and thoughtful packaging. As my clients elevate their brand, they inspire their audience to make sure their everyday actions, the ones that matter most, have a beautiful impact. It’s an ouroboic circle that inspires me to create my best work for clients that share my passion for purposeful design that doesn’t harm the planet.
I love working with visionaries who have big aspirations for their consciously-minded business. Whether they’re in the health and wellness space, fashion, homewares, or run a natural beauty brand, if they value intentional design paired with sustainable ethics then we’ll make an exquisite partnership.
What do you like the most about the design process?
I enjoy selecting materials and prototyping packaging the most. It's satisfying when everything comes together in a tangible way; it's the best!
My aesthetic is inspired by my priorities, namely the beauty of nature and using design to make an impact.
How do you choose brands you’re completely aligned with?
I make sure the brand has sustainability goals or ethical values, e.g. reduce water or power usage, switch to environmentally-friendly materials or processes, reduce carbon footprint, social impact, become cruelty-free, etc.
Every project is an opportunity to bring sustainable change into the world and I love the feeling of potential that a new brand offers. How their vision comes to life looks different every time, but it’s always going to spark positive connection.
What means sustainability to you?
Sustainability means different things to people, and it can take on different shapes and forms. To me, it's about respecting the planet and taking responsibility for our everyday actions, which can often have the most significant impact. It's about being mindful of the resources we use and how our decisions impact the environment. It's about reducing our carbon footprint, reducing waste, and making sure we are utilising renewable resources. It's also important to remember that sustainability is not just about individual action, but rather how we all contribute to creating a healthier and more sustainable future. We all have the power to make a difference.
Which particular brand was the most special for you?
LIV Botanics was definitely a project that stood out from the rest. The creative process for the packaging was no easy task, but we were determined to push through the challenge. After hours of brainstorming and tweaking, we created a unique packaging design that was so successful it was featured on many platforms and even won a design award! I am extremely proud of the outcome and can safely say that it was one of my biggest successes.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty is the feeling of being at ease with oneself and the world around us. It's a sensation that can be experienced in a multitude of ways: admiring the beauty of nature, finding joy in simple everyday moments, or simply feeling content in our own skin. It's a feeling that can often be hard to put into words, but that we all recognize and cherish.
What’s your skincare ritual?
I exclusively use my clients' products, including LIV of course. I really enjoy my evening routine: dimmed lights, deep breaths, then The Cleanser to wash away the day. This is followed by The Luminous, The Bakuchiol, and a relaxing gua sha massage.
What brings a smile to your face?
A sunny day, kindness, cats, matcha lattes, and well-designed sustainable packaging.
