Spanish designer Alex Al-Bader has always moved effortlessly between worlds. With a background in economics, textile training at the London College of Fashion, and experience as a model, she brings a unique perspective to her creative practice.
In our series on collaborations with women, Alex joins us from her London atelier, inspired by vintage markets and multicultural streets to create clothing that brings joy.

Soler, the brand Alex has built since 2009, celebrates individuality. ‘No more mass production, no more going to a party and finding someone else wearing the same dress,’ she explains. Each piece is made with joy, from bespoke garments in her Notting Hill atelier to limited-run fabrics that tell a story through pattern, colour, and form.
Collaborations, such as those with her sister, artist Monica Subide, add a painterly dimension. Monica’s bold, vibrant strokes have become intrinsic to Soler, translating her artistic vision into textiles that are both lively and timeless.
It is this spirit that inspired the pouch and beauty bag created for LIV. Drawing on Monica’s Birds of Paradise print, which is also seen in a dress worn by our founder, Alex, and her team reimagined it as a joyful, practical object: The Beauty Bag with a bow handle, and The Beauty Pouch wrist-friendly for day-to-day wear or evening occasions. The quilting adds presence and volume, giving each piece a sculptural, tactile quality that feels luxurious yet effortless. ‘The colours and shapes bring a sense of calm,’ Alex notes, ‘and the femininity comes through naturally in the print and the pouch’s form.’
Conscious creation underpins every step of Soler’s process. For over 15 years, Alex has embraced sustainability by limiting production, making pieces to order, and focusing on small, intentional collections. She rejects excess, ensuring that each item is meaningful, cherished, and built to last. "Collaboration is central to growth; learning from others, sharing ideas, and creating together", she says.
The festive pouch and beauty bag is a celebration of artistry, collaboration, and mindful design, a small treasure to enjoy yourself or share with someone you love.
